1. Definitions
- PayStream BV, we, us — the publisher of the App and the contractual counterparty to the Merchant. Private company with limited liability registered in the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) number 76406954, VAT number NL860614153B01. Contact: support@storeback.app (product support) or info@paystreams.nl (entity correspondence).
- Storeback team — the operations and first-line support team that runs the App and handles support tickets on PayStream BV's behalf. Named explicitly as a sub-processor in the Privacy Notice §8.
- StoreBack or the App — the Shopify application "StoreBack: Backup, Restore, BYO storage", together with its embedded admin UI, public marketing site at storeback.app, and supporting backend services.
- Shop — the Shopify store on which the Merchant has installed the App.
- Merchant, you — the natural or legal person who owns or operates the Shop and accepts these Terms by installing the App.
- Shopify Terms — Shopify Inc.'s terms governing the platform, app store, and merchant relationship, including the API License and Terms of Use and the Partner Program Agreement.
- Destination — the merchant-controlled storage location where snapshots are uploaded (currently Google Drive; Dropbox and OneDrive on the roadmap).
- Snapshot — a point-in-time, self-describing folder containing JSON entity files,
a
manifest.jsonindex, and referenced media bytes, captured from the Shop's Shopify Admin API.
2. Scope and acceptance
These Terms govern your use of StoreBack. They sit alongside, and are subordinate to, the Shopify Terms: StoreBack is a "third-party service" within the meaning of those terms. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Shopify Terms in a way that would compromise Shopify's platform rules, the Shopify Terms prevail.
Acceptance is signified by installing the App from the Shopify App Store, or by continuing to use the App after a material change to these Terms has been notified to you in accordance with §14.
3. License to use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, PayStream BV grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable, limited license to use StoreBack for the duration of the App's installation on your Shop, solely for the purpose of backing up, restoring, and exporting the content of that Shop.
The license does not transfer any intellectual-property rights in the App, its source code, its documentation, or its branding. The brand registry, snapshot file layout, and viewer index are copyrighted works of PayStream BV
4. Prohibited use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent required by mandatory law.
- Use the App to back up, restore, or export content from a Shop you do not own or are not authorized to administer.
- Attempt to bypass the App's scope boundaries — in particular, the explicit exclusions of personal customer data, orders older than 60 days, and files in your Destination that the App did not create.
- Attempt to overload, fingerprint, or stress-test our backend (e.g. by automated scripting against the embedded admin API outside the Shopify session-token flow).
- Use the App to violate Shopify's terms, applicable law, or any third party's rights.
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label the App without a written agreement.
- Use abusive, harassing, or off-topic language in support channels. We reserve the right to decline service in response to abusive conduct.
5. Privacy and data processing
Our handling of personal data, including your role as data controller and ours as processor, is set out in the Privacy Notice and the Data Processing Addendum it incorporates (§11 below). By installing the App you authorize the processing described there.
StoreBack does not request read_customers or read_all_orders; we capture
catalog content and non-personal order metadata for the last 60 days only.
Transient processing of Shop content; no persistent storage. StoreBack acts as a conduit between your Shopify Shop and your Destination. Snapshot bodies (the captured Shop content itself) transit our infrastructure only briefly: up to 30 minutes available to you, plus up to a further 24 hours retained operator-only for incident review, after which the bytes are erased by an automatic sweeper. No copy of your Shop content exists on our infrastructure past that combined window. Long-term retention is your responsibility, on a Destination you control. The full mechanics and time bounds are in the Privacy Notice §7 + §14.
6. Pricing, trial, and billing
StoreBack is billed through Shopify's Billing API. There is a single paid subscription plan and no one-time charges:
- StoreBack plan — USD 10.00 / month (introductory price). Includes scheduled and ad-hoc backups to your connected storage, safe selective restore, the Google Drive destination, and email notifications.
Restore is additive only: it adds new entities and replaces existing ones per entity with explicit confirmation. StoreBack never erases and never mass-erases your live Shop data, and there is no paid "destructive restore" or "full erase" unlock — that workflow does not exist in the product.
30-day trial. Each Shop is entitled to one 30-day trial of the StoreBack plan. The trial includes every feature of the paid plan. The trial is granted once per Shop; it does not reset on reinstall.
Trial extensions. Up to two manual 15-day extensions of the trial may be requested from the in-app Plan settings within the embedded admin UI, for a maximum total trial length of 60 days per Shop. Extensions are granted at PayStream BV's discretion but in practice are honoured for any merchant who asks before the trial ends.
Read-only mode after trial expiry. If the trial elapses without the Merchant accepting the recurring charge, the App enters read-only mode: scheduled and ad-hoc backups continue, snapshot manifests remain visible, and exports continue to be uploaded to the connected Destination. Restore is paused until a subscription is accepted. Read-only mode persists indefinitely without further charge; you can subscribe at any time to resume restores.
Currency and taxes. Charges are denominated in USD. Sales tax, VAT, or equivalent levies are added by Shopify according to the Merchant's billing jurisdiction.
7. Refunds
Subscription charges are collected by Shopify on our behalf. Because every paying Merchant has had a 30-day everything-included trial, our default refund policy is no-refunds. We will, however, consider good-faith refund requests where the App materially failed to deliver the represented functionality during the billing period; the maximum refund per request is one month's subscription fee. Requests must be sent to support@storeback.app within 30 days of the charge.
8. Warranty disclaimer
StoreBack is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PayStream BV disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that snapshots will always successfully capture every entity Shopify exposes. Some Shopify entities are eventually consistent (e.g. smart-collection membership re-evaluates asynchronously after restore); we make a best-effort attempt and surface partial outcomes in the Operations log.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PayStream BV's aggregate liability arising out of or related to the App, however caused and on any theory of liability, is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the App in the three months preceding the event giving rise to liability, or (b) USD 50.00.
In no event will PayStream BV be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profit, loss of goodwill, loss of revenue, loss of business, or the cost of substitute services, even if advised of the possibility.
Nothing in this section limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold PayStream BV harmless from any third-party claim arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the App, or (c) the content of your Shop that you chose to back up, restore, or export through the App.
11. Data Processing Addendum (reference)
The Privacy Notice incorporates a Data Processing Addendum (DPA) governed by Art. 28 GDPR. By installing the App, you accept the DPA on behalf of the Shop owner. Key terms:
- PayStream BV acts as Processor; the Merchant acts as Controller for Shop content captured into snapshots.
- Transient processing only. Snapshot bodies transit our infrastructure under the two-phase retention regime stated in the Privacy Notice §7: up to 30 minutes merchant-visible, plus up to a further 24 hours operator-only for incident review, then hard-deletion. We do not maintain a persistent store of Shop content on our side; the canonical copy lives on the Merchant-controlled Destination.
- Sub-processors are listed in the Privacy Notice §"Sub-processors". Material changes to that list are notified at least 30 days in advance; you may object by uninstalling the App before the change takes effect.
- International transfers rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses or applicable adequacy decisions (see the same section).
- On uninstall or on a Shopify
shop/redactwebhook, we delete the Shop's record and scrub stored credentials within the SLA stated in the Privacy Notice. Any snapshot bodies still in either retention window are dropped inline as part of the same operation.
12. Termination
By the Merchant: uninstall the App from your Shopify admin at any time. Uninstalling
cancels any active subscription (Shopify fires app/uninstalled, which we honor by
cancelling the App subscription within the same business day) and triggers the deletion described in
the Privacy Notice.
By PayStream BV: we may suspend or terminate your access with notice for material breach of these Terms (including §4), or immediately and without notice if continued provision would violate law, Shopify Terms, or expose us to credible legal risk. We may also terminate the App in its entirety (e.g. if we discontinue it); we will give at least 60 days' notice via in-app banner and email if we do, and we will keep the export functionality available throughout the wind-down so you can preserve your snapshots.
The clauses that by their nature survive termination — including §4, §8, §9, §10, §11, and §15 — survive termination.
13. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond reasonable control, including without limitation acts of God, war, civil unrest, government action, internet or third-party-platform outages (including Shopify, Google Drive, or our hosting provider), and labor disputes.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified at least 30 calendar days in advance via in-app banner and email to the Shop owner's address. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the App after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance; if you do not accept a change, your remedy is to uninstall the App before the change takes effect.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
Disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, save that EU consumers retain any non-waivable rights to bring proceedings in their country of residence under applicable consumer-protection law.
16. Contact
For any question about these Terms — including refunds, sub-processor changes, or jurisdiction — write to support@storeback.app. For privacy-specific matters, see the Privacy Notice. For general support, see the Support page.
